However, the authority denied these rumors on Twitter. “The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizen Customs and Ports Security denies the promotional information attributed to it and circulated through social media channels about enabling citizens of GCC to get the Emirates ID card for a fee only.”
It added that everyone applying for an Emirates ID must meet the requirements and it is subject to terms and conditions in accordance with the regulating decisions, which have not undergone any changes.
It urged people to ignore such rumors and always seek correct information from the authority’s verified channels and official government sources.
The ICP did launch a service called ‘Fawri’ that allows UAE residents to get their Emirates ID renewed or replaced in 24 hours in case it has been lost, stolen or damaged.
