Prime Minister and Turkish Vice President participated in the launching ceremony of the ship
Another addition to Pakistan Navy, Muljum class corvette ‘Tareq’ has joined the fleet. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish Vice President attended the launching ceremony of PNS Tariq in Karachi.
Pakistan-built Muljum-class corvette PNS Tariq is being launched today.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish Vice President Gio Dut Limaz and Turkish Deputy Minister of National Defense Jamal Sami are participating in the inauguration ceremony of PNS Tariq at Karachi Shipyard.
An amphibious assault ship is a multi-purpose warship capable of conducting surface, underwater and air operations. The ship is capable of detecting and engaging medium-sized targets with its surface-to-surface missiles and main gun.
It should be remembered that the Vice President of Turkey reached Karachi by a special plane. A high-level delegation led by the Turkish Vice President also arrived in Pakistan.
MoUs are also expected to be signed between Pakistan and Turkey for cooperation in various fields including defense.
The federal ministers will also arrive in Karachi along with the Prime Minister, while Shahbaz Sharif will also meet a delegation of businessmen during his stay in Karachi.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Shahr Quaid will be one day.
PNS Tariq, a multipurpose warship
Under contract with Turkish Defense Company, Karachi Shipyard also produced a fourth submarine.
PNS Tariq is equipped with advanced sensors to detect surface, underwater and air targets and carries both offensive and defensive weapons to engage these targets.
The attached ship is also capable of helicopter operations and will also be equipped with camp copters.
Commodore Jahanzeb says that the defense capabilities of Pakistan Navy will be further increased by the preparation of modern warships, Pakistan Navy is always ready to defend the homeland.
It is to be noted that the first integrated ship PNS Babur was launched on August 15, 2021 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The second ship PNS Badr was launched on 20 May 2022 at Karachi Shipyard.
The third ship, PNS Khyber, was launched on 25 November 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The project with Turkey also includes technology transfer, upgradation of Karachi Shipyard and collaborative development of designs for Jinnah class frigates being built exclusively for Pakistan Navy.
