Contempt Election Commission case: Imran Khan could not be charged

The Election Commission has set a new date of August 22 for filing charges
Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan could not be indicted in the contempt of election commission case, the election commission fixed a new date of August 22 for indictment.

A four-member commission under the chairmanship of Election Commission member Nisar Durrani heard the contempt of election commission case.

Lawyer Shoaib Shaheen pleaded for adjournment of the hearing while applying for exemption from the presence of Chairman PTI.

Member Commission Ikramullah Khan said that how to approve the exemption request in the case of insult? Chairman PTI was to be charged today.

The lawyer said that the PTI chairman has not been convicted yet.

During the hearing, PTI leader Asad Umar said that the election schedule will come on August 22, what impression will a political party get from hearing cases during the elections?

Commission head Nisar Durrani remarked that the Election Commission could have dealt with this case in a month, the political case has been going on for a year, the parties took a stand, filed exemption requests.

The commission chief added that the parties should think how much they are strengthening the institutions, the politicians have to think to run the country.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till August 22.
