Former US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson has been sentenced to three years in prison for violating ethics laws.
The FBI also fined the former ambassador $93,400, while 63-year-old Richard Olsen pleaded guilty to abusing his position for personal gain.
Olson had made false statements and violated laws related to lobbying for foreign governments.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, Richard Olson also received benefits from a Pakistani-American businessman while serving as ambassador to Pakistan.
Olson also tried to cover up his illegal activities and deleted important emails. Olson also lied to the FBI during the interview, but was not convicted.
