Islamabad: The Election Commission has decided to approach the Supreme Court for the date of general elections in an important meeting.
The important meeting of the Election Commission was chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner. The consultation session lasted for about 2 hours. According to the sources of the Election Commission, it has been decided to approach the Supreme Court regarding the date of general elections in the meeting. The Election Commission has decided to seek guidance from the Supreme Court on the current constitutional crisis.
The Election Commission will issue a formal announcement of the meeting regarding the decision to refer to the Supreme Court. Earlier in the meeting, the legal and constitutional options related to conducting elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were considered and consultations were held regarding the election schedule of both provinces.
In the meeting of the Election Commission, the team of the commission also gave a briefing on the meeting with the governor.
