How FIA can use its name in private business, Supreme Court
In the case of forensic audit of housing societies, Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal remarked that if there is a housing society of IB, who will compete with it, there may be a separate notice on the matter, Justice Athar Manullah remarked that apparently FIA and IB Involved in land grabs, how can FIA use its name in private business.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, heard the case of forensic audit of housing societies.
Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial remarked that the FIA report has been reviewed according to which there was a loss of 175 billion rupees, the overall estimate was given but no explanation was sought from the societies.
Justice Athar Minullah remarked that how can FIA use its name in private business? Isn’t this a conflict of interest? FI has serious allegations of land grabbing, IB is also apparently involved in land grabbing. The job of these institutions is to serve the public and not to run housing societies.
The Chief Justice said in his remarks that if there is a housing society of IB, who will compete with it, the affairs of housing societies of government agencies are not before us, in this matter, the department may take notice of itself. There will be a request before us.
The Chief Justice remarked that we are cautious in taking automatic notices, the purpose of automatic notices is to protect public interest.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case indefinitely.
