Can the former prime minister be free?
Hearings regarding the future of former Prime Minister Imran Khan are being held today in four important courts, in two of which decisions may be made regarding Imran Khan’s 3-year sentence in the Tosha Khana criminal case.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court will hear the case against the PTI chairman regarding the murder of lawyer Abdul Razzaq Sharke in Quetta at around 11 am today.
Abdul Razzaq was also the petitioner in the high treason case against Sharamran Khan.
After that, a hearing will be held in the Islamabad High Court on Imran Khan’s appeal which he has filed in the Tosha Khana case.
Imran Khan has already expressed no confidence in the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, but the Supreme Court issued instructions during the hearing on Wednesday that the Islamabad High Court should hear the matter on Thursday.
The Supreme Court also said that if nothing happens, the Supreme Court will give its decision on Thursday itself.
In light of the decision of the Islamabad High Court, a hearing is expected in the Supreme Court at 2 o’clock.
The fourth case is under hearing in the Lahore High Court where Imran Khan has challenged the move to cancel his bail. A two-member bench will hear the petitions of Imran Khan.
Can Imran Khan be released?
The three-member bench of the Supreme Court, which ordered the hearing of the Islamabad High Court today, also gave a very important observation on Wednesday. The head of the bench, Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal, said that there are errors in the judgment of the Islamabad court against Imran Khan in the Tosha Khan case.
After these remarks, PTI supporters expected that Imran Khan might be released on Thursday.
However, shortly after that, a court in Lahore allowed Imran Khan to be arrested from jail in the Jinnah House attack case.
