‘IRIS’ – NADRA introduces eye scanning identification system
ISLAMABAD (UrduLight.com) The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has upgraded its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to prevent double registration and false identification.
The authority has deployed eye biometric authentication system, IRIS as the third system after facial and fingerprint recognition.
The new iScan system is being tested in mega centers in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi.
The new system will eliminate identity theft, NADRA said in a statement, adding that it will help prove people’s identity forever as there is no fear of double registration and false identification. It will not be possible.
“Now all government departments or financial institutions will get reliable identity verification,” he said, adding that the facility would soon be available in all NADRA offices.
