ISLAMABAD: The 5-year period of disqualification of Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Talal Chaudhary has ended today.
On August 2, 2018, the Supreme Court sentenced PML-N leader Talal Chaudhary to 5 years of disqualification for contempt of court.
The then Chief Justice Saqib Nisar took notice of his speech at a public meeting, Talal Chaudhary criticized the judges who provided legal support to the dictatorship in the Faisalabad meeting in 2018.
Federal Minister of Information Maryam Aurangzeb said in one of her tweets on the end of Talal Chaudhary’s disqualification period, “Congratulations to Talal Bhai for ending his 5-year disqualification sentence from the Supreme Court, 5 years for his ideological commitment, loyalty and love to Nawaz Sharif and the Jamaat.” The penalty of disqualification has expired today.
He further said that Talal Chaudhary became eligible after 5 years, but in the eyes of the people and history, those who unjustly punished him have become ineligible for life.
