Russian warplanes have dropped missile-disarming flares in front of US drones in Syria and flown dangerously close to them.
According to foreign media, this was the second such incident in two days.
According to the US Air Force, the US MQ-9 drones were carrying out anti-ISIS missions in Syria.
In this regard, the US Air Force says that the Russian aircraft dropped missile-deactivating flares in front of the drones and flew dangerously close to them, which endangered the safety of all aircraft involved in the mission.
US Lt. Gen. Alex Grenkevich has said that these incidents are another example of the unprofessional and unsafe activities of the Russian Air Force operating in Syria.
He said that such incidents are a threat to the security of both allied and Russian forces.
“We urge Russian forces in Syria to refrain from this reckless behavior and to adhere to the standards expected of a professional air force,” added Alex Grankevich.
General Eric Korella, head of the US Central Command Centcom, said that the Russian Air Force’s repeated violations of agreed standards and practices are now becoming a major security issue in the region.
