Emphasis should be placed on controlling the prices of the US dollar, the request of the businessmen to the army chief
The meeting of Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir with the delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been confirmed.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Kashif Anwar said that in the meeting with the delegation, the Army Chief highlighted the important role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council and assured the businessmen that facilities will be created for the promotion of investment.
Kashif Anwar said that General Asim Munir also assured the traders that money exchange will be brought under the ambit of taxation while transparency will be promoted in interbank rates in the case of dollar exchange.
He said that during the meeting, the Army Chief emphasized the ability to attract investments of up to 100 billion dollars from other countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait while strengthening economic decision-making and economic issues. Revealed the formation of task forces focusing on different sectors.
The President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce further said that during the meeting, the delegation of businessmen proposed to the Army Chief to reduce the rate of income and sales tax on electricity bills and explained the practical approach for recovery of fuel adjustment charges. That their recovery should be done in winter to reduce the financial pressure on consumers.
Kashif Anwar said that during the meeting, the businessmen requested General Asim Munir to insist on controlling the prices of the US dollar in the interbank and open market.
