Providing interest-free loans to judges is an illegal act, the petitioner said
The decision to approve interest-free loan of 36 crore rupees to 11 judges of the High Court was challenged in the Lahore High Court.
The decision to grant an interest-free loan of 36 crore rupees to 11 judges of the Lahore High Court has been challenged by the citizen Mishkoor Hussain, in which the Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Finance and others have been made parties.
The plea contended that providing interest-free loans to judges is an illegal move as judges are already enjoying numerous perks.
The petitioner said that the tax money of the people cannot be used by the caretaker government indiscriminately, so the court should declare the approval of giving loans to the judges invalid and the initiative to give loans to the judges should also be suspended until the final decision of the petition.
It should be noted that caretaker Punjab government had approved loans of more than 36 crore rupees to 11 judges of Lahore High Court.
11 judges of the Lahore High Court will repay this loan within a period of 12 years without paying a single rupee of interest.
